Melanoma is a type of skin cancer, also known as malignant melanoma, which is developed in the melanocyte cells of the skin. Melanocytes produce melanin, which is responsible for the color of our skin. But it is found that melanoma impacts more people with a lighter complexion because they lack melanin. Hence, the prevention of melanoma is more crucial to those with fairer complexion. However, exceptions are still present, wherein people having dark complexions are infected too.

Most melanoma cases have developed on exposed areas of the body (i.e., legs, arms, chest, feet, hands, next, etc.). Take a careful look at these steps for preventing melanoma:

1. Limit exposure to sunlight
Ultra violet rays in the sunlight damage the skin and cause pigmentation. So, we suggest limiting your exposure to sunlight to the time early in the morning or during late evening hours. Doing so, you can get the minimum required amount of vitamin D in your body without increasing the chances of developing skin cancer.

2. Keep immunity strong
It is vital for people with a weaker immune system to keep a check on these diseases. They should either start maintaining a healthy diet or go through regular check-ups. 6. Seek a dermatologist when in doubt
Sometimes, we cannot check the skin for signs of melanoma due to the lack of knowledge regarding what the signs are and the inability to check the whole body on our own. It is best we consult the dermatologist from time to time to be sure.
