Top 5 Eyeliner Mistakes to Avoid

It can take years of practice to learn how to apply makeup and our younger selves have made some embarrassing blunders. These days, it’s easier than ever to learn thanks in large part to YouTube makeup tutorials. Even makeup experts need a little help every now and then to avoid making mistakes, especially when it comes to eyeliner. You may think you need the steady hands of a surgeon, but perfecting your eyeliner is easier than you think.

To avoid the mistakes of destroying your eye makeup, follow our helpful tips:

1. Stretching the eye for a better lash line
We all think it’s a better way to apply eyeliner when we pull our eye up or stretch it weird ways. Instead, it’s a horrible mistake that can mess up the outline of the liner on the eye. This happens when we loosen up the eye to check the texture. So, it’s advisable to use the fingers next time instead of pulling the eyes up only to find that you get to do all the eye make-up again.

2. Failed attempt of using a brush for a liquid liner
Every liquid liner has a liquid applicator. However, some people might do it better with a brush. Though it doesn’t mean you have to do it too. If you are constantly failing at applying the perfect liquid eyeliner on your lash line, chances are you are doing it all wrong. Switchback the liquid applicator, and you might find it pretty easy than the brush.

3. Only dressing up either of the lash line
A perfect eye make-up only ends when you have paid attention to both upper and lower lash lines. Leaving one of them unattended makes you look unprepared for the event you are planning to go to. So, check twice whether you used the eyeliner correctly on both the lash lines or not. However, experts advise that you can put on a darker shade on the top lash line, whereas a lighter one would work fine for the bottom one. But do not leave it without the coating.

4. Shutting the eyes when you need them to be open
On special occasions like cat-eye designs, most women have a habit of closing the eye and then drawing the crease at the corner. This could ruin the already applied makeup up and around the eye. And if you are going out for a special event like a date or a party, you need to be on time. You cannot afford to miss the eye make-up. So, it’s always better you open your eyes or squint them enough to see that you are able to apply the eyeliner whether liquid or gel perfectly for a better cat-eye look. Doing so, you will reduce the chances of reapplying the liner and then you can know if you are able to make a crease or not. All in all, you can wing the liner as per your need with open eyes.

5. Wrong choice of liners
If you are using gel or liquid eyeliner, then they would not leave any scope of further blending. Your smokey-eye make-up look might not be able to finish up because of that. So, unless and until you are sure about your eye make-up skills, do not use such liners. If you are a beginner, always go for the simple pencil liner which you blend easily with the eye shadow colors you intend to apply.
