Steps to Follow for Flawless Foundation
Foundation is a very important part of makeup as it helps to create a base for the application of other makeup items. This is because this product can hide the flaws on your skin and enhance your actual skin’s texture. Not only this, but various types of foundation also lend your skin a sun-kissed, well-moisturized look. But before you buy a foundation and begin using it, you must know how to. Incorrectly applied foundation is a strict no-no and can adversely impact your whole look. To help you out with this, here are some tips that you can follow to apply it perfectly:
1. Cleanse your face
Once you’re ready to begin experimenting with makeup, you must keep in mind that the first step is always cleansing. This is done to remove dirt from the skin and eliminate clogged pores that tend to dull your natural radiance. The next step is to gently exfoliate, as it helps to sweep away any dry, dead skin cells which may cause the skin to look flaky and uneven. After this, you need to apply a light moisturizer as foundation works best on moisturized skin.
2. Use a primer
A primer is used to prepare the face for a bunch of cosmetics by smoothing the skin, making it look perfectly smooth. A primer will also help to even out the skin tone by hiding redness, dullness and uneven pigmentation.
3. Starting with a little amount
At first, take a small quantity of it in your hand and start applying it in wide strokes. Then, gauge where more coverage is needed and gently increase the amount in those areas. The trick is to apply it where it is needed, because you do not want your face to look caked with it.
4. Work from inside out
Always start to apply the product from the center of your face. You need to just dab the foundation on each side of your nose, on the center of your chin and forehead, and then blend it in the outward direction. After this, you can apply an additional layer to the areas where blemishes are visible.
5. Do not rub it
You must apply it by tapping it onto your skin using a brush or fingertips, to apply it in a stippling motion. Avoid wiping or rubbing motions because they will cause streaks on your face. Also, rubbing motions will make the foundation look uneven.
6. Do not forget your ears
Ears should be treated as parts of your face so that people do not understand that you are wearing foundation. Sweep the brush coated with the product over them so that they blend with the rest of your face.
7. Set it and forget It
After applying it, dab some powder onto it for a matte effect as it helps to set the makeup. Dip your brush into the powder and then tap it to remove the excess. Apply the powder across your face, keeping the focus on the areas which tend to get oily like your chin, T-zone, and under-eyes. Dab the concealer in the areas where foundations were not enough.
