How to Apply Mascara

How to Apply Mascara

No makeup look is complete without a swipe of mascara across the lashes. There is no other beauty tool available that will darken, lengthen, thicken, or define the eyes like mascara can, which is why it’s one of the most popular makeup staples for everyday looks. Mascara is composed of black pigments that are bonded together by a type of polymer and thickened by oils or waxes. The proper application of mascara is quite difficult; however, practice makes one perfect.

1. Pick the right one
Firstly, one would need to pick a mascara that suits them the best. There are different types of mascaras available in the market. So, choosing the right one is very important. The important things to note while picking a mascara are the color, consistency, and brush type. Things like whether the mascara is waterproof or not should also be taken into consideration.
There are mascaras of various colors available but black is the most popular one. You can opt for water-resistant or waterproof mascaras if you sweat excessively.

2. Prep and prime
It is necessary to prepare the eyes before makeup application. Start with a clean and fresh face. Make sure you remove all traces of old makeup before applying new makeup. Using an eyelash primer is essential as it offers smooth application. One can also dab and puff the lashes with translucent powder before applying the mascara.

3. Curl the lashes
Using a lash curler to curl your lashes is a good idea, as it makes the application easy and simple. This can be done by placing the lash curler at the base of the upper lashes and then pressing and holding it in place for a few seconds. Curling your lashes make them look longer.

4. Get the product on the wand
Avoid pumping the tube excessively while taking the mascara on the wand, as it pushes air into the tube and makes it clumpy. This also makes the mascara tube dry out quickly.

5. Coat the lashes
It is best to apply mascara in a wriggling motion. This ensures more volume at the roots and the lashes do not feel weighed down. For lower lashes, use a brush with smaller bristles, as the lower lashes tend to be sparse and smaller.

6. Brush out the clumps
It is always advisable to comb out the clumps gathered on the eyelashes with a fresh wand. Clumps make the lashes stick together, making them look untidy. Clumps also make your vision hazy.

7. Apply a second coat
This part always depends on the volume one wants to add to their lashes. Hence, repeating the application like it is done the first time is recommended if one wants volume.
The above-mentioned tips are very useful for the application of mascara. These tips will give you the best results if followed properly.
