This type of anemia can develop at any age, and it is known to get worse over a long period of time. Usually, this type of anemia occurs when the individual is exposed to radiation or chemotherapy treatment. It is also developed if there is a viral infection or if the individual is pregnant.

3. Pernicious anemia
Pernicious anemia is a type of anemia in which the body does not contain enough healthy red blood cells. If the body does not contain enough healthy red blood cells, the body will like having a sufficient amount of oxygen that it needs in order to remain healthy and strong. Usually, an individual can develop this type of anemia if they have an autoimmune condition. This is when the bodies immune system attacks a specific lining of the stomach.

4. The importance of iron
To treat any type of anemia, it is recommended to eat iron rich foods. These foods can include peas, beans, seafood, red meat, pork, leafy greens, leafy vegetables and also dried fruit.
